Before you order one
thing... but get the
other, You should read
more here:
Florist Detective
What
Proflowers wants you
to see
isn't always what you'll
get.
Looking for the perfect
floral arrangement to send
to your special
sweetheart? Before you
hit the 'buy' button,
stop and read the entire
product description or
you may be in for a
surprising
disappointment.
Instead of
sending
impressive,
professionally designed,
hand delivered "Florist
Quality" flowers, that
are
the envy of the office,
you are likely buying a
cardboard-wrapped
grower's bunch of dull
colored, Colombian,
supermarket grade
flowers, delivered
in a box - a gift that
requires your own
special someone to
clean, condition, re-cut
and arrange.
Sympathy Proflowers sent to Funeral homes:
A great reminder to use a real florist for a
funeral. What happens all too often when you send Proflowers to a
funeral home. Funeral directors are not designers and more often than not are not
going to take these out of the box so the box gets to be the arrangement! This
shows the ethics with which ProFlowers operates. They should tell the consumer
that orders to funeral homes probably won't be displayed. Few of the funeral
homes we deliver to will even take the time to display them, rather they give
the box to the family to take home at the end of the day. Here's the problem
that happens far too often. For the convenience of the family the funeral
director will remove all the cards off the flowers and give them to the family
in a stack. The family takes the cards home, not remembering what card belonged
to what floral piece, and writes Thank You notes, "Thank you for the beautiful
flowers." If the sender did not attend the visitation he will picture in his
mind a beautiful arrangement that he must have sent even though his boxed
flowers may have never even been displayed.
Home Delivery:
If no one is home,
these
FedEx
and
UPS
delivered flowers often
are
left at the door
despite freezing
temperatures or extreme
heat conditions anywhere
in the US. Not to
mention these flowers
can be in transit for
days with no climate
control. Fresh from the
farm? What does that
mean? Imagine if they
delivered Lettuce fresh
from the farm?
Temperature fluctuations
can stress the flowers.
Our flowers are
delivered daily in
Refrigerated, temperature controlled
vehicles from the farm
to our shop.
Local Florist
anyway: Here's a kicker.
If you want flowers sent
today, tomorrow or even
three days from now.
Guess what? Proflowers
may take your order and
"wire" it to who?
You guessed it, a Local
Florist. That's because
ProFlowers is one of
the largest
Order Gatherers in
the country.
They promise you the
world, take up to 27% of
your money and send what
remains to a florist
like us who then have to
fulfill their obligation
to you, usually with
much better product, and
the same guarantee.
How
is it their radio ads
claim their flowers are
fresher, and yet, behind
your back send us the
order anyway. It seems
disingenuous because it
is.
Fresh from the farm: Another bit
of info is that the Proflowers business plan
of "Fresh from the farm"
marketing isn't working
as well as at first
(Mainly because
consumers have gotten
wise to their game).
Sponsored Searches: Proflowers
has entered the
sponsored link game with
a new company. When you
type florist or flowers
on Google, Yahoo or
Bing. The sponsored
links pop up on the
right and top of the
page.
Proflowers is
usually there, but now a
new separate company
called
From You Flowers
pops up. I haven't
confirmed it yet, but
industry insiders claim
this company is somehow
owned by the Proflowers
parent company
"Provide Commerce". Go ahead
and click on both links,
the websites sure look
alike, and use the same
misleading vernacular.
For the freshest
presentation of roses
and other flowers, trust
us
to professionally
arrange and personally
deliver not only roses,
but a wide variety of
romantic Flowers like
Tulips, Orchids, Gerbera
Daisies, and
Lilies to delight that
very special someone. If
you don't order from us
after reading about Proflowers do us small
business owners, do
yourself and a local
florist a favor and
order locally.
Your recipient will get
the full benefit of what
you are paying for, and
more.
Website flower
arrangement images can
make size comparisons a
challenge - especially
when shopping for roses
and rose arrangements.
Pages display designs in
the same format and
image dimensions,
generally fill each
frame with the product,
and may give the
impression that the
overall dimensions of
adjacent photos are
similar in size.
While many florist sites
include approximate
arrangement dimensions
along with the product
descriptions, some do
not - and leave you to
guess.
